A week ago, I was…well, it doesn’t really matter where I was. That day’s newspaper was lying next to me but I was not particularly interested because I am not a newspaper person.
A guy sat next to me and picked the paper up. I didn’t pay much attention but a little while later, I glanced over as he was flipping a page, and realized that he was (and had been) reading it upside down. This is where you’re probably tempted to laugh, but it really broke my heart, and still does as I write this.
You see, there are certain things that I take for granted, and my ability to read is one of them. And here I was, seated next to a guy who couldn’t. I think it doubly broke my heart because he felt the need to pretend that he could :-(.
It got me thinking about the things that we have, but are so used to having that we take them for granted. We all have them, it’s just that they are different for each of us. This week, i’ll be dedicating my Tweets and Facebook Posts to celebrating the little things. Gifts, talents, abilities that we possess but have forgotten how awesome they are…and maybe forgotten how awesome WE are.
Celebrate your awesomeness 🙂 and don’t laugh at the guy who can’t read. He is awesome too. 😀
